Tsar vs. Havana
A visual identity inspired by creating a narrative about two artists/star designers/friends in conflict. It contains a shocking soundscape that builds up the atmosphere, brutalised modular posters, an invitation that explains the story, and a cliffhanger of a greeting card.
In this assignment, students were supposed to make up an alter ego. We took all letters from our names and surnames and mixed them up. Later our classmates gave us a set of brand new characteristics that we had to stick to. I found the idea of making a narrative around our unique personalities the most amusing. My alter ego (Tsar Kakao Maswa), according to my classmates, is in conflict with Havana Rabis.
One of the options was to make branding, so I decided that would be the best medium to tell the story. After experiencing and reading all of the elements, the viewer discovers what happened to the two friends separated by their fame.
I made 3D models to stand for the artwork created by Tsar and Havana. Their polished look bothered me nevertheless, so I printed them with risograph, which became my "weapon of choice". Working with it and editing the printed layers manually, I managed to achieve a more brutal look. The strict and black typographical layer contrast with the elegance of golden and silver ones.
