PowerSpective
A project about how constructions created by humans reflect structures within society.
The associations are based on researching amateur and professional architectural photography. This project is the second part of a more significant assignment.
In the beginning, I worked together with Aurora Navarro Villacampa on a collection of images that became a visual essay on power structures. For the first part, we took our own photos, and after analyzing both sources, I realized that
perspective often depends on the kind of building we are taking pictures of. The grander the structure and the more power it imposes, the more of frog perspective we take. It is connected to the amount of space around the building.
Correspondingly crowded and poor neighbourhoods are regularly photographed from a birds perspective.
There was a strong need to work with space, but that proved challenging at the beginning
of the covid-19 pandemic. This became an excellent opportunity to learn about the game engine Unity and realize ideas in 3D space without limitations of budget or scale.
